Teachers gain professional qualifications

Training success: The Saltus Teachers’ Academy helps local educators further their qualifications

A teacher training programme offered at Saltus Grammar School has resulted in further accreditation for a dozen educators.

Twelve teachers have gained their UK National Professional qualification for either middle or senior school leadership, courtesy of the Saltus Teachers’ Academy — the first international location for programmes from the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

The second cohort of the programme has participants from Bermuda High School, the Berkeley Institute and Warwick Academy, as well as Saltus, with facilitator Tony James of the school Inspiring Leaders.

Offering professional development for the Island’s teachers was one of the goals of the school’s strategic plan of 2012. Persons interested in taking courses at the Saltus Teachers’ Academy are invited to an information session at the school at 6pm on March 2.

To take part, e-mail teachersacademy@saltus.bm or call 292-1677, extension 6248.
