A Paget woman this morning denied stealing more than $400,000 from a dentist’s surgery during an appearance in Supreme Court.

Devore Brangman, 53, pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of stealing credit balances between 2007 and 2011. In each of the charges, the complainant was identified as the Bermuda Oral Surgery Centre.

According to the charges, the amounts taken from the surgery ranged from $2,797 to $217,000, and totalled more than $434,000.

Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons gave Ms Brangman a trial date in November, extending her bail until then.

The matter was one of several appearing in the courts today as part of the monthly arraignments session.

Also appearing in Supreme Court was a 43-year-old man, who denied a single charge of sexually assaulting a woman in an incident in Pembroke on November 29 last year.

Neither he nor the complainant can be identified for legal reasons.

The defendant was released on bail pending trial in October.

Meanwhile 58-year-old Denis Davis denied charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a black handled knife in a public place in an incident in Devonshire on April 23.

Mr Davis also denied stalking two people between January 1, 2014, and April 23 this year.

Mrs Justice Simmons remanded Mr Davis into custody, ordering that the matter return to the courts in October to be mentioned.
