One the week’s big winner on the BSX

One Communications: share price rose 30.3 per cent on the BSX last week

One Communications Ltd was the big winner on the Bermuda Stock Exchange in last week’s trading.

The telecommunications group’s share price surged 64 cents, or more than 30 per cent, to $2.75, as 19,031 shares changed hands.

The only other stock to advance last week was Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of power utility Belco, which rose 11 cents, or 1.3 per cent, to close the week on a 52-week high of $9, as 3,000 shares traded.

Butterfield Bank shares slipped 51 cents, or 1.6 per cent, on the trading of 4,800 shares over the five trading days to close on $32, trailing the bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares, which ended the week on $33.43.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed on Friday at 1,959.48, down 13.09 points, or 0.7 per cent for the week. Trading volume was 26,831 shares and turnover totalled $233,036.65.
