Bank stocks lifted

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 22.49 points

Bank stocks were in favour on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index yesterday.

Shares of HSBC Holdings rose by 15 cents, or 1.45 per cent, to $10.45 after 6,500 were traded.

Butterfield Bank was up 50 cents, or 1.4 per cent, at $37 after 2,350 shares were exchanged. On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares were up 11 cents, or 0.29 per cent, at $37.50.

On the local exchange, a total of 17,600 shares of LOM Financial Ltd were traded, but with no change to the closing price.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 22.49 points, or 1.04 per cent, at 2,176.99.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 2.19 points, or 0.12 per cent, at 1,804.22.
