Shares of Ascendant Group Ltd fell 10 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The owner of power utility Belco dipped $1 to close on $9 as 16,494 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank shares gained 25 cents, or 0.6 per cent, to close on $44.75 as 750 shares traded. The BSX price was just a cent higher than Butterfield’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares, which gained 24 cents, or 0.5 per cent.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed on 2,503.5, up 1.6 points. Trading volume was 17,246 shares, while turnover totalled $18,841.08.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 4.75 points, or 0.25 per cent, to close on 1,879.46.
