Butterfield shares climb 1.1%

Butterfield boost: a 1.1 per cent rise in the value of the bank's shares helped to lift The Royal Gazette/BSX Index

Butterfield Bank shares gained 1.1 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading yesterday.

The bank climbed 50 cents on the trading of 259 shares. In New York, Butterfield’s US-listed shares did even better, gaining 66 cents, or 1.36 per cent, to $49.06 — 29 cents short of their all-time high.

One Communications Ltd was unchanged at $2.80 on the trading of 9,435 shares.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 22.49 points, or 0.85 per cent, to close on 2,673.29. Over the week, the index gained 0.88 per cent.

Trading volume was 9,694 shares and turnover totalled $38,850.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 21.38 points, or 1.18 per cent, to close on 1,836.75.
