Butterfield slips more than 1% in New York

No stocks traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange, as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged at 2,117.14.

The US-listed shares of Butterfield Bank fell 31 cents, or 1.03 per cent, to close on $29.73 on the New York Stock Exchange. On the BSX, the bank last traded at $31.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 5.85 points, or 0.33 per cent, to close on 1,770.02.

For the week The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 32.77 points, or 1.54 per cent.

Leading the way over the five-day period was Butterfield Bank, which climbed 2.5 per cent. One Communications Ltd gained 1.3 per cent and BF&M Ltd 0.6 per cent.

Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of power utility Belco, was the only stock to fall during the trading week, slipping 25 cents, or 0.8 per cent, to close on $31.75.
