Shares of Ascendant Group Ltd gained 1.3 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.The parent company of power utility Belco advanced 40 cents to close on $31 as 700 shares changed hands.The US-listed shares of Butterfield Bank slid 74 cents, or 2.6 per cent, to close on $27.65 on the New York Stock Exchange, as 236,242 shares traded. The bank last traded at $28.05 on the BSX.Ascendant was the only stock to trade as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 3.86 points, or 0.2 per cent to close on 1,952.72.The BSX Insurance Index dipped 30.84 points, or 1.98 per cent to close the day on 1,523.63.
