Butterfield shares gain ground in New York

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged at 1,837.7, as no shares traded on the domestic board.Among international companies with BSX listings, 11,583 shares of HSBC Holdings changed hands with a value of $48,069.45, as the bank closed on $4.15. Butterfield Bank’s US-listed shares gained ground, adding 12 cents, or 0.47 per cent, to close on $25.61 on the New York Stock Exchange. The bank last traded at $25.17 on the BSX.For the week, the BSX index edged 0.5 per cent higher, driven by a 0.3 per cent increase in Butterfield and Somers Ltd’s 7.4 per cent gain.In other news, One Communications Ltd said in a filing with the BSX that on September 2, the company repurchased 299,872 of its own shares at an average price of $3.75 for immediate cancellation. One added that during the month of August the company repurchased 59,100 shares at an average price of $3.90, also for immediate cancellation.
