Delivery service gets 200-plus registrations
Just a week after it commenced operations, more than 200 people have registered online to use a new grocery delivery business.
DropIt Delivery, which launched last Tuesday, offers access to 10,000 items in the inventory of Lindo’s grocery store in Warwick. Once paid for online, groceries are delivered to a customer’s home, office or yacht during a two-hour window selected by the customer.
“People are registering to test the waters and get a feel for the service,” says DropIt’s co-owner Leanne Evans. “We feel they are waiting for their regular shopping days to come around. All the right questions are being asked.”
Ms Evans, who runs the business with partner Carl Vincent, says orders are arriving daily from a range of customers, including residents and vacationers staying on the island in Airbnb accommodation.
“It is going well, we have had some amazing orders,” she said. “We originally thought that orders would be in the $100 to $200 range, but people are using the service for orders of $500 and $600, too. We got an order in yesterday for $1,500 of groceries.”
The business has announced a promotion for the month of July. The delivery charge until month-end will be $26.99, down from the normal price of $37, while the charge for orders picked up kerbside at Lindo’s has been reduced to $16.99 from $19.99.
Delivery is available from Dockyard to the eastern boundary of Hamilton Parish. Drivers hired by DropIt use their own vehicles to make deliveries.
