Lawyers Jamie Rego and Bradley Houlston have joined the Bermuda office of international law firm Appleby.Mr Rego, a Bermudian, returns to the firm’s corporate department after working for an Australian firm. He completed his pupillage with Appleby in 2010.Mr Houlston will lead the employment and immigration team within the firm’s dispute resolution department.The firm said that Mr Rego, an associate, specialises in banking and asset finance, and has experience in a broad range of corporate finance and banking and asset finance-related matters, including advising both local and international clients in respect of corporate restructuring, aviation finance and leasing (including the registration of aircraft on the Bermuda Aircraft Register), vessel finance/registration and general corporate finance.Mr Rego’s practice also extends to general corporate law, and he has advised clients on corporate transactions including capital raising, securitisation, mergers, amalgamations and (dis)continuations from and into Bermuda, and corporate governance. He said: “After almost three years living and working abroad I am excited to re-join Appleby and look forward to continuing to deliver quality legal advice with such a reputable offshore law firm.”Mr Houlston, a senior associate, previously worked in the labour and employment team of international law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner for more than eight years.He advises on all aspects of employment and HR issues, including drafting and negotiating employment documentation, defending complex and high-profile litigation and enforcing post-termination restrictive covenants, the firm said. Mr Houlston also advises on internal investigations, frequently overlapping with regulatory matters, and has extensive experience advising clients in the financial services sector. He has also advised clients in the retail, manufacturing and natural resources sectors.He regularly presents seminars and bespoke training sessions to in-house lawyers, HR professionals and managers, the firm said, and has written on employment law and HR issues for a number of publications in the United Kingdom, including Employment Law Journal and People Management. Mr Houlston is listed as a “rising star” by the Legal 500 law firm guide in the UK.
