HSBC Bermuda plans to stage a motorcade in celebration of Cup Match today and tomorrow.Staff from the bank will drive from St George’s today and from Somerset tomorrow, providing giveaways as they make their way to Hamilton. The drives will last from 12 noon to 2pm on both days.HSBC said it wanted to “ensure that the spirit and essence of Cup Match is maintained” despite the cancellation of the traditional centrepiece cricket match, of which the bank has been the lead sponsor for several years.Tanya Bule, head of wealth and personal banking for HSBC Bermuda, said: “We are excited to be back on the streets with our famous motorcade. “Recognising that this year’s Cup Match may be different than how we normally celebrate, our commitment to the island’s biggest community event continues and is stronger than ever.”Free gifts will include the traditional HSBC car flags, along with popcorn and cotton candy in team colours. Those wishing to join in are reminded to wear a mask when approaching the motorcade and to maintain social distancing. In addition, HSBC will be contributing to online articles and videos being featured on The Bermudian magazine’s website covering the history and culture of Cup Match and will also sponsor Vibe 103, Ocean 89 and Power 95 to provide music over the holiday. • See the route details for the motorcades attached to the online version of this article at www.royalgazette.com.
