Epic Entertainment have confirmed that the upcoming Fight Night Champion event has been postponed due to the worldwide spread of Covid-19.The event, originally scheduled to be hosted at the Fairmont Southampton on March 28, was set to feature a triumvirate of local professional boxers with Nikki Bascome, Andre Lambe and Mikey Parsons all set to step back in the ring against Jamaican opponents Devon Moncriffe, Toriano Nicholas and Gregory Miller respectively. However, while there are no confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus on island as of yet, with more than 175,500 confirmed positive tests and 6,500 deaths worldwide, and government guidelines recommending suspending all public gatherings involving more than 50 people, organisers took the decision to postpone the event until August 15.“In response to Covid-19 and the guidelines established by the Bermuda Government on regarding public events, Epic Entertainment has proactively adopted the Government’s recommendation of suspending all public gatherings involving more than 50 persons,” Epic Entertainment spokesman said in a statement.“With Covid-19 classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organization, we want to do our part to ensure we are part of the solution to prevent the possible spread of the virus. In light of this, Fight Night Champion is postponed until August 15, 2020. “We had to make a decision in the interest of our patrons’ safety. We truly appreciate the support and understanding, as this is beyond our control.”
