Woman driver, 55, charged over fatal crash

A woman was charged yesterday in connection with a fatal road crash.

Margaret DeSilva, 55, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with causing the death of Jokeem Richardson, 23, by driving without due care and attention.

The incident happened on Blue Hole Hill in May.

Ms DeSilva, from Smith’s, was not required to enter a plea as the case must be heard in Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Ms DeSilva on $20,000 bail on condition she does not leave the island without the court’s permission.

The case is due to be called again at Supreme Court’s arraignments session next month.
