A Pembroke man has been accused of causing a traffic collision that resulted in a footballer having his leg amputated.

Kevin Francis, 20, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Shachkeil Burrows and Dakai Grant by driving without due care and attention. Both charges relate to a traffic collision that took place on July 30 in Paget. Mr Burrows ultimately lost his right leg as a result of the collision, while Mr Grant suffered serious injuries to a foot.

Mr Francis did not enter a plea to the charges, which will be heard by the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Mr Francis on $5,000 bail with a surety. The 20-year-old is expected to appear in the Supreme Court during the December 1 arraignments session.
