Man denies ‘abusive’ behaviour on BA flight

A Pembroke man this morning denied causing a disruption on a Bermuda-bound flight.

Helder Viera, 54, was charged with “threatening, abusive or insulting” behaviour towards crew members on board a British Airways flight on New Year’s Eve.

He was also charged with wilfully disobeying a command by the aircraft’s crew.

Mr Viera, who was arrested at L.F. Wade International Airport after the flight landed, denied both charges.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Mr Viera on $5,000 bail and a like surety.

The matter is expected to return to the courts next week to be mentioned.
