Fines handed out to speeding drivers

Four road users were fined yesterday for driving at more than double the legal speed limit.

All the defendants pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to offences committed last year.

They were all fined $400 and had their licences endorsed with six demerit points.

Jaeda Smith, 22, of Southampton was caught driving at 72km/h in St George’s on January 18.

Zharrin Simmons, 27, of Sandys, drove at 75km/h in Southampton on October 26.

Tinaya Gibbons, 21, of Pembroke, was clocked driving at 78km/h on May 16.

Kim Pitcher, 34, of St George’s was caught driving at 75km/h on April 1.

The legal maximum speed is 35km/h.

A fifth speeder, Clydelle Daniels, 39, of Sandys, was fined $200 and given four demerit points for driving at 58km/h in October, 2004.
