Teenager led police on chase

A 19-year-old man who led police on a chase through Pembroke has been banned from the roads.

Prosecutors said officers were in a marked police car at the intersection of St John’s Road and Cedar Avenue when they saw Jecoa Thomas riding a motorcycle with a pillion passenger.

The officers saw Thomas weave between vehicles and hit a wall before he rode past their police car.

Police followed Thomas onto Marsh Folly Road and turned on their sirens to pull the motorcycle over.

But Thomas, of Pembroke, and his pillion passenger looked back at the officers and accelerated away.

Police caught Thomas when he came off the bike at Bandroom Lane.

The incident happened on September 17.

Thomas pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to dangerous driving and a failure to stop for police.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Thomas $1,000 and banned him from driving for 18 months for dangerous driving.

He was also fined $150 for the failure to stop.
