Two men were charged with possession of a total of $550,000 worth of drugs yesterday.

Charles Butterfield, 33, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with possession of cannabis and cannabis resin with intent to supply on December 20, 2019, in St George’s.

Kinte Smith, also 33, was charged with possession of cannabis resin between an unknown date and December 20 last year in St George’s.

The court heard that the two, both from St George’s, were alleged to have more than five kilograms of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of $500,000.

It was further alleged that Mr Smith had about one kilogram of cannabis with a street value of $50,000.

The men did not have to enter a plea as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson released the pair on $10,000 bail and ordered them to hand over their passports.

She adjourned the case until the October arraignments session at Supreme Court.
