A man who tried to avoid a roadside sobriety checkpoint was banned from the roads today.Stacey Simpson, 34, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to drink driving.The court heard that Simpson, from Hamilton Parish, rode through a checkpoint on South Road in Paget without stopping.Police stopped the motorcyclist at the junction of South Road and Middle Road and told him about the checkpoints.When asked if he had been drinking, Simpson said: “I had two or three Ciroc pineapples.”He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to Hamilton Police Station to take a breath test.The test showed that Simpson had 131 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.The incident took place December 14 last year.Simpson apologised for his actions.Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe fined him $1,000 and banned him from the roads for 18 months.
