Man accused of stealing jewellery, coins

A man charged with a total of 24 theft-related offences in Magistrates’ Court yesterday will be tried in the Supreme Court in April.Berven Lambert, 36, was charged with the theft of jewellery, rare and valuable coins and money from the Designer and Vintage Market in Reid Street, Hamilton, between December 24 and 26 last year.The goods were said to have a total value of $69,022.13.Mr Lambert was faced with an alternative charge of receiving stolen jewellery, collectible coins and money worth a total of $8,077.12 between December 24 and 31 last year.He was also charged with 17 counts of burglary alleged to have happened in Sandys between February 19 last year and January 24 this year.Mr Lambert is alleged to have targeted eight separate residences and one store on several occasions.A number of car keys, wallets, bags and other items were alleged to have been taken.Mr Lambert, from Sandys, was further charged with three counts of trespass with intent to steal, the theft of a bank card and use of the card to buy a pizza.He did not enter pleas as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court. Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe adjourned the case until April 1 and remanded Mr Lambert in custody.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding criminal court cases.
