Teenager admits having ecstasy, knife

Reports were ordered yesterday on a teenager who admitted possession of a knife and drugs. Magistrates’ Court heard that Tejai Ford, 17, who was on a motorcycle, was stopped by police on Cobbs Hill, Paget. The court heard that police became suspicious after Ford twice reached into the bag he was carrying. Ford and the other male on the bike told police that they did not have any prohibited items. But a search of Ford’s bag found a knife with a 3½ inch blade, 0.12 grams of ecstasy, and a grinder. Ford told police that he was taking the knife home and that someone had put the drugs in his bag. The incident happened on September 6 last year.Ford, of Warwick, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article, ecstasy and drug equipment. Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe said that the case “cries out” for a social inquiry report. Ford was released on $3,000 bail until April 1. Mr Wolffe also imposed an 8pm to 6am curfew.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
