Woman pushed police officer in chest

A woman has been jailed for three months after she admitted assaulting and threatening a senior police officer.

Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday that Trimea Roland, 31, visited Heritage Worship Centre in Dundonald Street, Pembroke, and asked to visit its food bank.

The staff, who had helped Roland in the past, told her that there was a family service at the church and that she should come back later.

However, Roland asked people at the family event for money.

A member of the church called police after Roland became disruptive.

Superintendent James Howard told Roland that she was interrupting the service and escorted her out of the church.

Roland swore at Mr Howard and pushed him in his chest outside the church.

The court heard Mr Howard told her: “Trimea, you know I am a police superintendent, do not push me or I will have you arrested for assault.”

Roland continued to push the officer, then picked up a rock and said “I would hit you in your f****** head.”

She threw the rock at Mr Howard, but missed, and was arrested.

The incident took place on January 26.

Roland, of no fixed abode, admitted the charges on January 28 and was sent to drug treatment court.

She later opted out of the drug treatment court and asked to be sentenced instead.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe ordered that time already spent in custody should be taken into consideration.

He said: “I know you Ms Roland — when you’re not on the street you’re a very pleasant person.

“I just want to see more of that person.”
