Delivery driver caught stealing from service station

A social inquiry report was ordered on a man after he admitted stealing $68 worth of alcohol from a service station while he made deliveries.Donald Forde, 39, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to two counts of theft from Esso Tigermarket on Par-la-Ville Road in Hamilton.The court heard that Forde, from Devonshire, worked for Dunkley’s Dairy and visited the service station to deliver milk.He stole about $29 of the alcopop WKD and Heineken beer and stashed the drinks in milk crates after his delivery on June 13.Forde tried to steal $39 of WKDs from the station the same way on June 27, but was spotted by Robert Holdipp, the manager and cofounder of H&M Service Stations, which runs Tigermarket.Mr Holdipp alerted police and Forde was arrested on June 30.Magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered Forde to pay compensation for the stolen alcohol before September 30.She released him on $500 bail and adjourned the case until October 13 for sentencing.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
