Bailey’s Bay have replaced one middle-order batsman with another in the only change to their Eastern Counties team for tomorrow’s final against Flatts at Lord’s.

Dennico Hollis have been preferred to Tre Govia, as Bay seek to be confirmed as champions before next year’s home series at Sea Breeze Oval. Coach Irving Romaine insists that the holders will not be taking their One First Division opponents lightly, especially with England-based Kamau Leverock back and set to make his counties debut. Flatts were due to select their team last night.

“Flatts always give a good game, over the last couple of years they have come close to winning it, and Kamau will give them an extra lift as an all-round player,” Romaine said. “They’re hungry and want to win.

“They haven’t won in years and every year the urge gets stronger and stronger. They are doing pretty good in the First Division so aren’t having a bad season at all. We’re looking for a good game from them. They are enthusiastic and are a club who look forward to playing county.”

Bay made short work of Cleveland in the second round two weeks ago, dismissing them for only 89 and reaching their target for the loss of just two wickets.

“Cleveland had a hard season this season and it showed in county while Flatts are in a promotion push,” Romaine said. “Kamau has been brought in to get some wickets and obviously he’s explosive with the bat.

“We’re not taking anybody lightly and definitely want to defend it. We’re going into it just as hard as the last two rounds and we’re hoping for a positive outcome.”

Flatts drew with then holders Cleveland in last year’s rain-affected first round at Sea Breeze Oval.
