Delray Rawlins claimed a wicket to go along with a dashing century as Sydney Cricket Club romped to their third straight victory in the New South Wales Premier Second Grade.

Sydney beat North Sydney in a two-day match that concluded at the Drummoyne Oval today.

The Bermuda all-rounder took one for 20 off four overs with his left-arm spin as North Sydney were forced to follow on in reply to Sydney’s 358 for five declared after being dismissed for 139 in their first innings.

North Sydney were 99 for four in their second innings at stumps, still 120 runs behind.

Sydney were declared the winners having won the first innings.

“I’m overall happy with the way I bowled and the way the lads stuck at it,” Rawlins told The Royal Gazette.

“The boys done really well and it was a pretty convincing win.”

Rawlins struck a maiden century at this level and a career-best after Sydney elected to bat first on the first day of play at the Drummoyne Oval on January 20.

The Sussex player scored an aggressive 152 to surpass his best of 140, which he achieved on tour to India last year with England Under-19. He also shared in a hundred partnership with fellow century-maker Suffan Hassan, who finished unbeaten on 115.

“It was nice to get across the 150 mark,” Rawlins said.

The 20-year-old has made 23 appearances for Sydney this season, scoring 524 runs at an average of 23.82. He has also claimed 34 wickets, with best figures of three for six.

Sydney are fourth in the New South Wales Premier Second Grade standings, a point adrift of third-placed Mosman, and have gone unbeaten since losing to leaders Northern District last month.

Rawlins has been playing in the New South Wales Premier League and training with the New South Wales State squad in Australia after being awarded an Overseas Placement this winter as part of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s International Pathway programme.

The ECB’s Overseas Placements programme is designed to give talented youngsters the chance to develop their independence on and off the field and expose them to competitive cricket and good coaching.
