Delray Rawlins was the top scorer for Sussex with 62 from 57 balls in a losing cause against Middlesex in a Second XI Trophy match on Tuesday at the Blackstone Academy Ground.
Middlesex scored 282 for eight in their 50 overs after being sent in, with Rawlins, the seventh bowler used, giving up 59 in his seven overs. Sussex replied with 245 all out in 47.2 overs with Rawlins, batting at No 4. He was at the crease for 83 minutes and hit five fours and four sixes.
Rawlins came to the wicket at 22 for two in the fifth over and departed in the 24th over when the score was 130 for five.
Rawlins was not named in the 12-man Sussex first team squad for today’s sold out match against Australia at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.
The match is Australia’s first under new coach Justin Langer as they prepare for their five-match one-day international series against England this month.
