Tuff Dogs strengthen grip on title

Tuff Dogs, moving inexorably towards a fourth successive title, opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the Evening Cricket League after defeating Fine Leg Byes by 16 runs at Shelly Bay.

Davon Wade made top score of 30 in Tuff Dogs’ 110 for six before Janaka Pereira and Trevor Corday restricted theri fourth-placed oopposition to 94 for eight in reply with three wickets apiece.

Third-placed Renegades thrashed bottom club De Wicketest by 63 runs, while BCB Academy, who have played three matches fewer than the Premier League leaders owing to other commitments, picked up their fourth win of the season by trouncing West XI by 63 runs after number three Charles Trott led the way with an explosive 28-ball 64, which included six sixes and four fours.

In the First Division, Bad Byes put the brakes on CV Chargers with an eight-wicket win, but PHC missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders after going down by six wickets to North Village, despite Dean Stephens’s 64.

In a high-scoring match at St John’s Field, High Flyaz moved off the bottom of the table with a 31-run win over Deloitte after Dheeraj Singh’s unbeaten 75 helped them pile up 171 for two in 15 overs, Jaz Burrows hitting 64 not out in the losers’ 140 for five.
