Delray Rawlins will be looking to pick up where he left off when Sussex resume their second innings in their Bob Willis Trophy match against Middlesex at Radlett today.The Bermuda all-rounder led a late recovery yesterday after the visiting side lost four wickets for as many runs in the final session of day two of the four day match after being promoted one spot up the order.Rawlins hit four boundaries in his 19 from 23 balls and along with captain Ben Brown (9) added 29 runs to guide Sussex to stumps without further damage at 33 for four and an overall lead of 123.The visiting side started their second innings with a 90-run advantage before a devastating late burst from Tim Murtagh, three for 16, thrust Middlesex back into contention.The seam bowler grabbed three late wickets, including two with successive deliveries, to spark the late slide before Rawlins and Brown put up the shutters.Earlier, Middlesex were dismissed for 203 in reply to Sussex’s 293 all out in the first innings after electing to bat. Jack Carson, the teenage off spinner, led the Sussex attack with career-best figures of four for 46, while Mitch Claydon claimed three for 23.Meanwhile, Rawlins continued his fine form of late when he smashed a run-a-ball 46 in Sussex’s first innings. The 22-year-old’s knock featured a six and five fours, including three straight off seam bowler Martin Andersson.The left-handed batsman also stabilised the innings in a 35-run sixth-wicket partnership with Ollie Robinson (19) before a late collapse saw Sussex’s lose their last five wickets for 47 runs.Harry Finch led the Sussex batting with a battling 69 that contained 12 fours.Third-change Anderson was the pick of the Middlesex bowling with figures of four for 77.Rawlins went into the match with some momentum having struck 40 from 42 deliveries in the second innings of Sussex’s previous outing against Essex, which ended in a three-wicket defeat at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.
