Western Stars, the Bermuda Under-19s and Flatts Victoria Club all punched their ticket to the First Division Twenty20 play-off semi-finals at the weekend.Stars and the under-19s both advanced after securing victories over Somerset Bridge and Cleveland County at White Hill Field on Saturday and were later joined by Flatts who beat winless Devonshire Recreation Club at Wellington Oval yesterday.Warwick Workmen’s Club are the remaining semi-finalists having earned a bye in the quarter-finals as reward for topping the standings at the completion of the round-robin stage of the competition on net run rate over Flatts, Cleveland and Bridge.Stars stormed into the next round with an emphatic eight-wicket demolition of Bridge.Phillip Thomas claimed five for ten and Dante Wellman three for nine to help dismiss Bridge for 91 in 18.4 overs.Seion Darrell and Jaiden Manders then led the run chase with some aggressive stroke play during an 84-run opening partnership, which carried Stars to the brink of victory.Darrell hit 47 from 32 balls and hit six fours and two sixes before falling three runs shy of a deserved half-century. Manders stroked 34 from 28 balls, which included four fours and a six.Khiry Furbert, the Stars captain and wicketkeeper, and Makai Young saw the visiting side to victory.Shane Hollis produced an impressive all-round display in a losing cause for Bridge as he stroked 31 and claimed a wicket.Saturday’s remaining match at White Hill Field saw Bermuda Under-19s beat Cleveland by 14 runs with promising all-rounders Dominic Sabir and Logan Jones leading the charge.Sabir scored an unbeaten half-century while Jones claimed four wickets respectively to propel their team through to the next round.Sabir struck six fours and two sixes in an unbeaten knock of 55 from 45 balls and got solid support from Jarryd Richardson, whose aggressive knock of 40 from 27 balls, carried the under-19s to 149 for five after electing to bat. Jones then rolled up his sleeves and took over with the ball in the second innings en route to superb figures of four for 29 to help dismiss Cleveland for 135 in 18.3 overs.Q’shai Darrell led the Cleveland batting with a run-a-ball 28 as well as their bowling with figures of two for 24.Meanwhile, Flatts had things all their own way in a ten-wicket win on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method over Devonshire in a rain-hit affair at Wellington Oval yesterday.Regino Smith, Nelson Bascome and son Koda Bascome claimed two wickets each before a match-winning partnership between openers Reggie Baker and Smith clinched Flatts’s win without loss and 17.2 overs to spare.Nelson Bascome took two for 11, Smith two for 11 and Koda Bascome two for 28 as nine-men Devonshire were dismissed for 87 in 16.2 overs after electing to bat. Baker and Smith then took just 2.4 overs to knock off the required runs after Flatts target was revised because of a rain delay between innings.
