Drunken TV producer fired after conviction

Tamara Lodge: fired from Zero Point Zero Production for verbally abusing and assaulting police officers in Bermuda.

A television producer who unleashed a foul-mouthed torrent of abuse and bit a woman police officer while under the influence of alcohol has been fired.

Zero Point Zero Production in New York confirmed yesterday Tamara Lodge was no longer with the company.

The move came after the 33-year-old British national, who was on holiday in Bermuda, was fined $5,600 after she admitted two charges of assault on police officers and two charges of using offensive language.

A spokeswoman for Zero Point Zero said yesterday: “We were saddened to learn about the recent incident involving Ms Lodge in Bermuda.

“The behaviour and statements do not reflect the person we have come to know.”

The spokeswoman added: “It has come to our attention that there may be extenuating circumstances behind these events.

“However, our policy is that we do not tolerate hurtful speech or actions and Ms Lodge will no longer be working on ZPZ projects.”

The company made the statement after at first refusing to comment on the court case.

Magistrates’ Court heard on Tuesday that police officers went to Horseshoe Bay Beach after reports of an assault around 10pm.

Officers noticed that Lodge smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet after they tried to speak to her.

They became concerned for her safety when she was unable to give a local address and explained the offence of being drunk and disorderly in public.

Lodge became angry when police tried to arrest her and hurled insults at them.

She told one officer: “F**k you, you f*****g t**t.”

And she called a woman officer: “A f*****g trailer b***h” and shouted “F**k you, you black f*****g c**t.”

She then bit a woman officer on her right arm and left her with visible marks that required further hospital treatment.

Lodge also hit the other officer across the cheek.

She told the court on Tuesday that she had no recollection of the incident and that she was “incredibly ashamed and horrified”.

And Lodge added she was on medication and “should have known better than to drink anything”.

Lodge has worked as producer on the award winning CNN food and travel show Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, as a development researcher on the BBC’s The One Show in Britain and as assistant producer on National Geographic’s Explore.
