Driving ban for man who led police on chase

A teenage motorcyclist who led police on a high-speed chase through Hamilton was slapped with an 18-month driving ban last week.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Jayden Stovell sped through the streets of the city to Marsh Folly.

The 18-year-old was seen to weave in and out of traffic while being chased and forced oncoming drivers to swerve to avoid him.

Smith pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on May 26 last year.

He also admitted a further two charges of speeding when he was caught travelling at 75mph and 78mph in July and October this year.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo imposed a $1,000 fine as well as a ban for the dangerous driving count.

He also fined Smith $400 for the two speeding offences.
