Violent video footage of a man being punched and kicked on Front Street went viral yesterday. Two recordings of the daylight assault, believed to have been recorded within the last two days, have spread widely.

In the videos a man is in an altercation with a woman when a second man intervenes. The second man grabs the first by the throat, delivering repeated punches before walking away.

The man then returns and is shown kicking the dazed man in the face. A police spokesman confirmed that officers are aware of the footage, but could not provide further comment.
