Man arrested for sex assault of minor

A 43-year-old man has been arrested over an allegation of the sexual assault of a minor.

A police spokesman confirmed the arrest and said there is an active investigation under way.

The spokesman said: “The Bermuda Police Service wishes to reassure everyone in the community that the Bermuda Police Service has a continuing commitment to safeguard children from harm and in particular incidents of a sexual nature.

“A full investigation is under way by officers of the Vulnerable Persons Unit within the Serious Crime Department.”

The spokesman urged anyone with information about any abuse or sexual assault should tell the police.

He added: “All reports of this nature will be handled in a compassionate and confidential manner.”
