Security guard stabbed in Hamilton

A security guard was stabbed outside of a Front Street liquor store, a police spokesman said yesterday.The guard, said to be a 46-year-old man from St George’s, was stabbed several times in the body while on duty outside Carousel Liquors on Front Street in Hamilton.Emergency services were alerted to the stabbing incident around 8.15pm and the male victim was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.The guard’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.The police spokesman said a man who arrived on a black motorcycle approached the guard and confronted him. The man was said to have stabbed the guard several times before he fled on the motorcycle and headed out of Hamilton.The suspect was said to be 5ft 5in tall, with a bald or shaved head.He was wearing a black helmet, black jacket, blue jeans, black socks and flip-flops.Any witnesses who have not yet come forward should call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.
