The Bermuda Police Service have launched an internal investigation after confidential information about a case was leaked on social media. The police said the details related to an ongoing investigation and that the post highlighted “an individual’s personal information”. A police spokesman said that anyone receiving such information should delete it.“How would you feel if that were information about you, a relative or loved one?” he said.Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley said: “An internal investigation has been launched into how this information found its way into the public domain.“Upon learning of this development, an immediate review of our internal processes was commenced.“I cannot underestimate the seriousness of this action both in regards to the safety of the victim as well as other parties.“It also undermines our investigation alongside a host of other issues regarding codes of conduct, not to mention the erosion of public confidence in the Bermuda Police Service, that could potentially arise as a result.“We are diligently working to ensure there is no repeat of this situation.”
