Oliveira fifth overall in Ireland

Matthew Oliveira is in fifth place overall after two stages of the Junior Tour of Ireland.

Oliveira, who is riding for Hot Tubes, a top developmental team in the United States, placed 31st in the 95-kilometre stage two race in a time of 2:15.40 today.

The 18-year-old started the day in sixth place, the position he finished in the stage one time-trial on Monday in 8:16.39.

Oliveira’s overall time of 2:23.56 is 22 seconds behind his team-mate Marcus Sheffield, who is leading the standings.

The Junior Tour of Ireland, a six-stage race in Ennis, County Clare, continues with stage three tomorrow.
