Horsfield enjoys promising campaign

As the 2019 XC Ontario Cup season begins to wind down, Bermudian Robin Horsfield can look back on a promising campaign, which will strengthen his credentials of becoming a contender in the highest level of mountain bike racing.

The 19-year-old, who is a national champion, is set to finish within the top-ten competitors in Ontario, Canada, where he sits eighth with 74 series points, in a field including professional and former professional riders.

Among several significant milestones this season, Horsfield is scheduled to finish second overall in the Hardwood Hills Wednesday Night Series, despite missing four of the 18 races because of a host of World Cup appearances, including a nine first-place finishes during the season. The series has a regular weekly attendance of over 200 riders, many of whom also regularly compete at the Canada Cup and World Cup levels.

In his final Wednesday night series race, Horsfield sealed another impressive milestone after setting a course record on the most difficult course, finishing in 47min 33secs.
