Helmetless rider arrested for drink-driving

A man who crashed his bike while not wearing a helmet has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, police said yesterday.

The 38-year-old, from Pembroke, was on South Road in Paget when he struck the kerb near the Paraquet Cafe.

The rider was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries, including a head wound.

He was discharged after treatment and later arrested.

The incident happened about 9.15pm on Sunday. Police have appealed for witnesses.
