Bermuda’s sixth road fatality is set to be laid to rest on Wednesday in her native Arkansas.

Jamie Kopp, 49, died as a result of a traffic collision on September 5 on North Shore Road in Hamilton involving her rental cycle and a heavy truck.

John Kopp, Jamie’s husband, said: “Jamie was beautiful person and we were greatly enjoying our time in Bermuda.

“She was a trained motorcyclist with a motorcycle endorsement in America. We never exceeded 15mph that day since the speed limit was 20mph, and we were on scooters.

“I hope that the truth on what happened is eventually uncovered. Until then, please know, I nor she, would hold any ill will to Bermuda. It is a beautiful country with equally beautiful people. I am so grateful for those that provided me comfort during my time of suffering.”

Mrs Kopp, a senior programme manager at Walmart Home Office and mother of one, was described as fun-loving and selfless. A police spokesman said last night that the investigation into the crash that took her life is ongoing.
