Twelve seniors have completed a writing workshop organised by author Florenz Maxwell.

The participants, aged between 60 and 91, have met twice a week for the past five weeks after the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs made a grant to the Friends of the Bermuda National Library.

Now their stories will be published in an anthology of Bermudian Memoir for Young People, edited by Ms Maxwell and Kim Dismont-Robinson.

Joanne Brangman, director of libraries and archives, said: “I want to thank the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs for providing the grant to the Friends of the Library that made this workshop possible.

“The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by these twelve senior citizens was an example to all of us who watched.”

The senior citizens who took part in the course were Brenda Wilson, Muriel Wade Smith, Lawrence Sticca, Cecille Snaith-Simmons, Claudette Cann, Arnold Hollis, Gwyneth Lightbourne, Gwendolyn de la Chevotiere Creary, Ismay Cartwright, Marlene Warren, Frances Furbert and Marion Matthews.
