Bermuda College will open its doors again next month — but health and safety precautions will be enforced.

Duranda Greene, the college president, said that safety for staff and students had been “priority one” for its July 6 reopening.

Dr Greene added: “I look forward to welcoming our staff back in July, and to welcoming our faculty and students back in August. I think everyone will appreciate the new safety measures we’ve instituted.”

A college spokeswoman said staff and visitors at the campus would have to wear a mask or other face cover on the Paget campus, in common areas and when near others.

Employees and visitors will also have their temperatures checked on arrival.

Social distancing will be mandatory and security will be on site to ensure the rules are followed.

The spokeswoman said: “Most of the classes in the fall semester will continue to be offered remotely.

“However practical classes and labs will be conducted on campus with physical distancing, and smaller class sizes as appropriate.

“Campus spaces will be available for students who may not have ideal learning environments at home, as needed. Student support services will be available both remotely and on campus.”

Registration for the autumn term is now open and prospective students were advised to register early.
