Hamilton Health Centre shut down for the week

The Hamilton Health Centre will remain closed for the rest of the week, a government spokeswoman announced last night.

The facility on Victoria Street was scheduled to be closed yesterday to allow for urgent building repairs to be carried out. The spokeswoman said that an update on when normal services would resume at Hamilton Health Centre would be provided later this week.

She added: “The Department of Health apologises to the public for the inconvenience while the repairs take place.”

A number of service relocations were announced as a result:

• The Communicable Disease Clinic will be at the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre, St David’s

Opening hours are 8.30am to 2pm starting on Wednesday. For appointments and information call 332-8942 or 278-4900.

• Clinical laboratory services will also be at the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre. Opening hours are 8.30am to 2pm starting on Wednesday. Minimal clinic services are available by appointment only.

• Maternal health services will operate from 63 Victoria Street, beginning tomorrow, with limited services for ante-natals and family planning clients. Opening hours will be 9am to 4pm.

Antenatal services will be available on Friday from 9am to 11am. For more information call 332-8895 or 278-4900. Clients may park at the Department of Health parking lot.

• Adult immunisation will operate from St Paul AME Church, Centennial Hall, on Court Street, Hamilton, from 10am to noon on Tuesday and Thursday for limited immunisation services, available by appointment only. For child health, children will be seen on the mornings of Wednesday and Friday.

Outside of the stated operating times, patients are asked to contact their physician. Clients are urged to go to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in cases of emergency.
