King Edward VII Memorial Hospital has added a pink glow to its emergency blue lights to highlight the fight against breast cancer.

The Mammography Department and Acute Care Wing main entrance was lit up last night to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Terricca Smith, a senior imaging technologist, said: “Bermuda Hospitals Board started offering mammography services in 1992 and since then we have never wavered in our commitment to provide mammograms for all who need it.

“The pink entrance lighting shows the public that we continue to be dedicated to providing breast cancer education and testing.

“Research shows that early detection of breast cancer greatly improves survival rates, so we are eager for women to have regular mammograms.”

Walk-in Mammogram Day will be held on October 25, from 9am to noon.
