Diabetes education in Portuguese on offer

The Portuguese-speaking population is being targeted through a new diabetes education programme.

The Bermuda Diabetes Association said it is providing the service because language barriers can make it difficult to promote awareness about the disease.

A specialist team comprising a physician, nurse and dietitian, from Portugal’s Diabetes Association in Lisbon, will conduct education sessions in Portuguese on November 30 and December 1 at St Patrick’s Church Hall, South Shore, Smith’s.

A general talk will take place at St Patrick’s on November 28, from 6pm to 8pm.

The sessions are free, but, to reserve your place, call the Diabetes Resource Centre on 297-8427 or by e-mail admin@diabetes.bm.
