Some antenatal health checks at Hamilton Health Centre are being undertaken in the Communicable Disease Control Clinic. A sign in the Maternal Health and Family Planning Clinic at the centre said: “Due to lack of resources, the maternal health programme will provide limited (antenatal and family planning services) until further notice.”A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health said: “The department is providing the same level of service to clients.“While recruitment and training of new staff is in process, some of the reproductive health checks normally seen by nursing staff in the Maternal Health and Family Planning Clinic are being temporarily managed out of the Communicable Disease Control Clinic in an adjacent part of the Hamilton Health Centre.”
