Sarah Demerling has joined Walkers Bermuda as a partner in the law firm’s corporate, finance and funds group.
Ms Demerling is the third lawyer to join Walkers Bermuda in the past three months.
With more than 17 years’ experience in the financial services industry in Bermuda, Ms Demerling brings asset management, investment funds and ILS expertise.
She has advised US, Canadian and UK lawyers, major investment managers, banks, insurers, reinsurers and principals on all aspects of Bermuda corporate law, most notably in the asset management and investment funds industry and the insurance-linked securities market.
Ms Demerling was with Appleby for 14 years and has served as an independent director for a number of companies to facilitate best practice in corporate governance. Her experience covers the funds, ILS, insurance, including captives, special purpose insurers and A-rated companies, and commodities sectors.
Ms Demerling is an active member of the Asset Management Committee of the Bermuda Business Development Agency and worked with the Bermuda Government and Bermuda Monetary Authority to introduce changes to the Investment Funds Act. She is also a co-founder of 100 Women in Finance, Bermuda.
