Student summer work programme now open

The Department of Workforce Development is advising that applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Summer Employment Programme.Successful applicants will gain well-rounded career exposure for ten weeks from June to August.The Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sport, Lovitta Foggo said, “This has been an incredibly successful programme over the years.“It provides our young Bermudian high school seniors and college students with the opportunity to acquire new skills, apply academic knowledge and gain relevant work experience. The Summer Employment Programme offers competitive internships within the public service, private and non-profit sectors. I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage our private sector partners to consider enhancing the summer experience of our young college students by hiring them and providing them with real world work experience.”Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a college or university and hold Bermudian status. The Department of Workforce Development seeks interns with:• Good academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA of 2.5 or equivalent);• Excellent interpersonal skills; and• Strong written and verbal communication skills.Applicants should submit an enrolment verification letter, transcript, two written references, resume, and cover letter highlighting career interests.
