That racket was not befitting our heroes

Huge noise: night party in Bernard Park was offensive to some

Dear Sir,

Reading Lucy Willitts’s letter of complaint about the June 18 Bermuda Heroes Weekend party at Bernard Park, I agree with her entirely. The noise was unbelievable and totally unnecessary.

No one could possibly sleep from 3am to 8am: small children, the elderly, sick persons or people needing to go to work in the morning. Yes, there are some who work on holidays.

My house also shook, the windows vibrated, and I live on Middle Road in Paget. Calling the police to complain at 5am did not help. I was told the noise rule had been waived for this event.

This is no way to celebrate heroes. True heroes would have been embarrassed. So, please, next year rethink the entertainment and let’s have something more dignified and in keeping with our heroes.

Remove the noise, have music and daylight events for all to enjoy.
