A youth message: lift every voice and sing

The power of song: The Bermuda Chamber Choir & Orchestra with The Bermuda School of Music Youth Choir at St John's Church (File photograph)

Dear Sir,

I am writing your column once more after being somewhat absent for a while. I thought I would share a bit of encouragement for young people.

I’m a member of Holy Trinity Church in Bailey’s Bay. Yesterday (March 30, 2019), before our normal Sunday service, each of us at church were treated to the voices of the Bermuda Youth Choir.

What a treat that was, the choir under direction of Marjorie Pettit.

They performed with professionalism and without flaw, singing various pieces such as The Lord’s My Shepherd, an arrangement by Malcolm Archer.

Along with a few other pieces, a couple of solos during the communion were also amazing.

Each of them sang with purpose and poise, showing us what can be accomplished if you put your heart and soul into achieving your best. Each of them did just that.

If each of these children apply the same attention in their classroom studies, they will certainly be our leaders of tomorrow in each of their chosen careers.

The Bermuda Youth Choir gave their all at church, a wonderful feeling that our treasured pearl, Bermuda, shall be in good hands for our future.

This was for sure shown on the faces of these most talented children’s parents, who were present during the service. Bravo.

To our public, if there is a chance for you to hear and see the Bermuda Youth Choir, please take advantage of any opportunity. You shall not be disappointed.

Let’s do it.
